Why I am not on the Epstein list
For over two decades I was a driven environmentalist who thought we had time for a managed transition to a sustainable society. As the progress being made was tiny compared to the destruction of the natural world, within me there was a sense of desperation and struggle that I didn’t recognise. That experience means I notice it when I meet people with a similar sense that they must keep trying to do ‘whatever it takes’ to have a positive impact on the world. Such a drive can seem admirable, but it often leads to seeking the ear and support of the powerful, to the detriment of others. Looking back on my skype call with notorious billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, I realised how a desire for influence can lead anyone astray.
