Two to three times a year the largest Buddhist temple on the island of Bali invites kirtan leader Vasudev and myself (Professor Jem Bendell) to gather friends to meditate and chant for a long weekend.
The Brahma Vihara Temple is in the north of the island. These gatherings have been ongoing since 2020 and donations to the temple were particularly helpful during the economic disruption of the pandemic.
We gather in meditative silence, with also spiritual singing, nature hiking, holy hot springs and a collective satsang. It has become a nourishing and rebalancing moment in the year of both locals and expats (we do not encourage people to travel from abroad for this retreat).
